Mount Mitchell is approx a one hour drive from the cottages going north on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hiked the 2 miles (strenuous) up to the top to see the most fantastic panoramic views. You can drive to the top with a short walk to the observation deck. Well worth the trip!
